Light-sectioning Measuring Systems

System Description

ARDAS-LS systems are light-sectioning measuring systems which can be used to automatically measure the surface profiles of workpieces which differ widely in shape and material. Depending on the measuring range, repeatabilities better than 1 µm can be achieved.

In accordance with the measurement task and marginal conditions, ARDAS-LS mea-suring systems can be provided as stand-alone devices or as instruments for use in combination with a PC for a variety of different applications.

The product range extends from individually equipped laboratory measuring systems through to systems which can be integrated directly in production lines for comprehensive quality inspection and process control. Systems for use in clean room conditions are included in the range, as are systems specially designed for the harsh conditions which prevail in industrial environments.

The central unit of each measuring system is the optical sensor which is extremely compact, with dimensions of 300 x 90 x 50 mm or 300 x 140 x 50 mm. A laser scanner module integrated within the sensor creates the light-sectioning line on the surface of the test specimen. The CCD camera which is also located in the sensor detects the light scattered from the surface of the workpiece.
By using different optical components, a broad measuring range can be covered. Standard models feature a measuring width between 1 and 50 mm. Further solutions with extended measuring widths are also available.

The use of the latest 32/ 128 bit DSP technology directly within the sensor coupled with firmware which is specially tailored to suit specific applications facilitates real-time evaluation.

The modular ARDAS software package allows measurements to be configured and managed with the aid of an external PC. A wide range of extended evaluation options are also available.

The high accuracy of measure-ments made with ARDAS-LS can be guaranteed by calibration with DKD-certified standards.
