Laser Triangulation Measuring SystemsSystem Description
DIMOS triangulation measuring systems are particularly suitable for the non-contact determination of the geometrical parameters of cylindrically symmetrical workpieces with bases of various different shapes. Depending on the specific application, DIMOS systems can achieve a measuring speed up to 1000 times faster than that achieved by tactile coordinate gauging devices. Thanks to intelligent laser technology, the influence of the various reflection properties of workpiece surfaces is almost completely eliminated. The systems can attain a reproducibility of up to 1 µm. In order to perform a 360° contour measurement, the test specimens are subjected to a defined rotation within the measurement field of the optical triangulation measuring head. For this purpose DIMOS measuring systems feature a precision rotational mechanism with a sample holder on which the test specimen is placed with the end face down. Depending on the specific model, the measuring head can be adjusted vertically within various different ranges using a linear guide. This enables measurements to be made at various different heights. The extremely compact triangulation measuring head features a self-readjusting laser unit1 to illuminate the test specimen. The CCD camera which is also located in the sensor head detects the light diffused by the workpiece. The measuring range is dependent on the optical components in use and their mechanical arrangement; it lies between 20 and 200 mm for standard models. Other solutions with extended measuring ranges are also available. The use of the latest 32/ 128 bit DSP technology in the sensor allows 10,000 measurement points to be recorded per second. The product range includes both complete systems for specific applications as well as customized solutions for specialist measurement tasks. DIMOS systems have recently been used particularly successfully for measurement tasks concerning monoliths (substrates) for catalytic converters. Both the measurement procedure and the display of results are controlled fully automatically by means of a PC. The high levels of measuring accuracy achieved by DIMOS systems can be guaranteed by calibration with DKD-certified standards. |
