Catalytic Converter Measuring System CCMS


Measurement Set-Up


The entire measuring system is integrated in a mobile, closed rack for use on the shop floor. The laser measuring head in use has a measuring range of ±50 mm. The mechanical set up was designed in accordance with the required spectrum of test specimens.

In order to calculate the gap geometry, the thickness of the wall of the metal sleeve is determined using an electronic micrometer screw. For every measurement, an area scan camera identifies the orientation of the test specimen by reading a barcode label on the end face of the monolith. In this way it is possible to determine or display the gap in relation to the orientation of the test specimen.

Reading the barcode information also enables the allocation of test specimen data to the test specimen. The processing of all measurement quantities and the corresponding analysis is carried out automatically by the software and is script-controlled. A special user interface tailored to meet customer requirements for the machine operator on site almost completely eliminates operator errors.
